Should we believe in signs of destiny?
Do you believe in signs of destiny?
Those little signs that the universe seems to send you. Like receiving a message by coincidence, through an external element like a call or a movie, or having the answers to your questions in an unexpected context.
Psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung coined the term in 1930 "synchronicity" to define these signs of destiny.
This is "simultaneous occurrences of 2 or more events which are not linked by cause but by meaning."
There are different types of synchronicities: number, love, numerical, etc.
Chance? Coincidence? Sign of destiny?
Or in the end, what if it was really us who caused these strokes of luck?
Here are several examples of synchronicities that we may experience.

Synchronicity of repetition
- The same number or name appears over and over again around you. No matter where you go, where you are.
- Finding yourself crossing paths with the same person several times or finding someone you crossed paths with by chance, in completely different circumstances.
- Listen to music that perfectly illustrates your life, the moment you turn on the radio. Or, think of an old song and hear it when you turn on the radio a few minutes later.
Synchronicity of numbers
- Looking at your phone or watch during double hours, mirror hours or reverse mirror hours: 22:22, 12:12, 12:21… You now know that this is about hour synchronicity.
- Seeing the same combination of numbers everywhere, called number synchronicity: meeting a person at 225 rue X, having an appointment on 22/5 at 02:25, seeing 225 on a license plate, etc.
Synchronicity of words
- Write or say a specific word or phrase at the exact moment someone says it in a conversation next to you, or even on TV.
Event Synchronicity
- An event that happens at the right time. The expression “being in the right place at the right time” takes on its full meaning in these cases.
- Watching a movie or TV show that has a storyline and text that reflects issues you are currently facing in life
- Finding the solution to your problem(s) by chance (on social media, in a newspaper, on television, through a friend, in a book). And this, when you had not yet tried to solve it(them).
- Learning that there has been a serious road accident on your usual route, on the day you have decided to change your route. Adaptable to all types of situations
(I have the example of a close friend who, on the evening of the attacks of November 13, 2015, was supposed to be on the terrace of one of the bars hit by bullets. A series of circumstances meant that he did not go in the end. The friend who was supposed to accompany him, at whose house he was staying, did not want to go out. Which just goes to show that sometimes, you cannot doubt your destiny.)
- Being contacted for your dream job, just when you were about to start looking for a job following your sudden layoff.
- All events in your life follow one another perfectly, one thing after another is delivered to you.
Relational Synchronicity
- Receiving a call, text message or message from someone just as you were going to call or write to them. This is probably the most common example of synchronicity between two people.
- Consistently wearing the same colors or prints as the person you are meeting, without ever having agreed beforehand.
- Talking to someone you know about in a while and not hearing from them. And bumping into them at that exact moment: the famous "When we talk about the wolf".
- Receiving a reassuring message unexpectedly, and at the right time.
- Meeting someone you know in front of you in a restaurant, a café or even a museum, during a trip to the other side of the world.
Synchronicity of dreams
- Dreaming of a situation and have the feeling of having already experienced the scene, when the events take place in reality. This famous feeling of " already seen " that we all know.
Love Synchronicity
- You were born at the same time, same day, same month, same year. And for you it is obvious that you are meant to be together.
(Personally, this has not been true for me. In fact, even if we had a mutual crush in primary and secondary school, he remains today, despite the distance, a childhood friend without any ambiguity, and this despite all these criteria)
- Meeting the rare pearl through mutual friends, who introduce you to new people. For some, mutual friends are a sign of destiny in their own right. For others, more rational, it is just a logical continuation. In the sense that the opportunities for meetings multiply through contact with new people brought by these famous friends. Everyone has their own interpretation.
- Losing the phone number you got from the cute guy at the party last night. Is this a sign from fate warning you not to call him back?
How to recognize these signs, if you believe in them?
- Be aware of your surroundings
Being aware of what's going on around you. Especially in a world where we tend to use technology and have our days run on autopilot.
So raise your head and observe. Perhaps you will come across these signs of destiny on your path.
- Spot the repetitions
If events align, you will notice it in recurring events, things you see or hear. Review the examples of repeating synchronicities mentioned above.
The more attentive you are, the more you notice things.
- Follow your intuition
It describes our deepest unconscious. You know that feeling of making a decision without knowing why, sometimes driven by something stronger than you. Like a conviction, a presentiment, something instinctive and dazzling.
But in the end, I want to say if it makes you feel good to smile in front of a horoscope with happiness announced on the heart side, from a call from the person who haunts your thoughts, keep it up!
Without losing sight of the fact that not everything is necessarily linked to destiny itself. Some things are caused by oneself or simple coincidences. Everyone has their own interpretation.
And you, do you believe in signs of destiny? Have you experienced situations listed in this article?
