Halloween 2022: Movies & series to get you in the mood
As Halloween approaches, here is a selection of new releases on the small and big screen to scare you.
TV
- Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story – Released on 09/21 – Netflix

Synopsis : Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer took the lives of seventeen men. The series explores these brutal murders, focusing on the communities affected by systemic racism and the many police failures that allowed one of the most notorious serial killers to continue his crimes for more than a decade.
In the skin of the killer, we find the excellent Evan Peters, one of Ryan Murphy's favorite actors. He is known for having played many characters, each as crazy as the next, in each season of the series American Horror Story.
Moreover, to prepare for this dark role, the actor explains that he watched several interviews and archive images. He also had access to police files and recordings of the killer's confessions.
The mini-series starring Evan Peters even became one of the biggest hits of all time for the platform.
- Hocus pocus 2 – Released on 09/30 – Netflix

Synopsis : The horrible Sanderson sisters are back: in this new adventure, the infernal trio, straight out of the 17th century and thirsty for vengeance, will once again attack the town of Salem. But on this All Saints' Eve, three courageous high school students will try everything to stop these raging witches from ravaging the town.
This is the continuation of Hocus Pocus: The Three Witches by Kenny Ortega, released in 1993.
With Anne Fletcher who replaces Adam Shankman as director, the latter being too busy with the sequel to Once upon a time. He remains attached to the film as executive producer.
With Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker who resume their initial roles.
- Mr. Harrigan's Phone – Released on 05/10 – Netflix

Synopsis : In a small town, a love of books and reading brings Craig, a teenager, and Mr. Harrigan, a reclusive old billionaire, together. But when Mr. Harrigan passes away, Craig discovers that all is not dead and over. He finds himself strangely able to communicate with his friend beyond death through his iPhone. This supernatural coming-of-age story proves that some bonds are unbreakable.
Adapted from a short story from the collection If it bleeds by Stephen King, this feature film is a moral fable that warns of the dangers of hyperconnection.
- The Midnight Club – Released on 07/10 – Netflix

Synopsis: The series follows a group of terminally ill teenagers who live together in a hospice. Where they make a pact that the first of them to die must send the others a sign from beyond the grave.
The series is produced by Mike Flanagan, who already produced The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
- The Watcher – Released on 10/14 – Netflix

Synopsis : Former FBI agent Joel Campbell spent part of his career tracking down serial killers. One of them, Griffin, is obsessed with isolated women, and would like to engage in a morbid game with Campbell, who resists. Transferred, he then tries to rebuild his life. However, Griffin resurfaces by sending him photos of a stranger whom he threatens to murder.
Here we find Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale in the role of the couple.
Not forgetting the controls of The Watcher, a regular at horror that keeps you awake: Ryan Murphy. The creator from American Horror Story co-wrote the series with his loyal collaborator, Ian Brennan.
The duo is currently a hit on Netflix as they are behind Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (see above)

- Halloween Ends – Released on 10/14

Synopsis : Four years after the events of Halloween Kills, Laurie is now living with her granddaughter Allyson and finishing writing her memoirs. Michael Myers has not been seen lately. After letting Michael's shadow hang over her life for decades, she has finally decided to free herself from fear and anger and turn to life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of murdering a boy he was babysitting, Laurie will have to face one last time the evil forces beyond her control, in a wave of violence and terror...
Thirteenth film in the film series Halloween, it is the continuation ofHalloween Kills released a year earlier.
Halloween Ends stages for the seventh and final time Jamie Lee Curtis as her iconic character Laurie Strode. Andi Matichak also reprises her role as Allyson for the third time. James Jude Courtney also reprises his role as Michael Myers . With, once again, the return of Nick Castle for a cameo.
- The Devil's Prey – Released on 10/26

Synopsis : According to Vatican archives, cases of demonic possession have increased dramatically in recent years. To combat this, the Catholic Church has secretly reopened exorcism schools. On this spiritual battlefield, Sister Ann, a young nun, stands out as a promising fighter.
