Everything you need to know about the 2022 Cannes Film Festival

After a mixed edition last year, dominated by numerous health restrictions, the festival is finally back in its full original version.

This 75th edition will take place this year from May 17 to 28, 2022 in the heart of the unmissable Palais des Festivals.

The president of this new edition is none other than... Vincent Lindon, succeeding Spike Lee. He himself won the Best Actor award in 2015 before making an appearance in Titanium by Julia Ducourneau, awarded last year.

He will be assisted by:

  • the swedish actress Noomi Rapace
  • the italian actress Jasmine Trinca,
  • Iranian director Asghar Farhadi
  • the french director Ladj Ly
  • the american director Jeff Nichols

This is composed of:

  • the president Valeria Golino, Italian actress
  • the american director Debra Granik
  • Polish actress Joanna Kulig
  • French actor and singer Benjamin Biolay

The mistress of ceremonies this year will be Virginie Efira , which succeeds Edouard Baer And Doria Tillier.

Forest Whitaker will be awarded an honorary Palme d'Or for his career and his many commitments.

On this occasion, For the Sake of Peace (In the name of peace) directed by Christophe Castagne and Thomas Sametin and produced by Forest, will be screened on Wednesday, May 18 in a special session.

Tom Cruise will make its grand return after 30 years without having walked the steps, with the preview of Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to the eponymous film that brought him to fame in 1986.

Another iconic actor who should be there: Tom Hanks. He will be there for his role as Colonel Tom Parker in Baz Luhrma's film, Elvis, biopic of the singer Elvis Priestley, Of course.

The poster for this festival pays tribute to the magnificent film The Truman Show released in 1998.

This film by Peter Weir, features an excellent Jim Carrey, while he is spied on every day by thousands of cameras. The Cannes Film Festival mentioned this choice because it is " a poetic celebration of the elusive and freedomAn ascent to overlook the past and move towards the promise of renewal" .
