The one who wants to change her life (but doesn't take the plunge)

Welcome to “Almost No Filter”, the podcast where I share my almost-forty-something chronicles, between life reflections, daily struggles and small realizations. Here, we talk about everything that is part of our journey: the ups, the downs, the doubts, and even the moments when we feel like we've got it all wrong. The goal? To be as honest as possible with ourselves and with you, without filter or pretension. Because we're all a bit in the same boat, trying to understand what makes us move forward, or sometimes what makes us go round in circles. So, relax and let yourself be carried away. Let's go!

Ah, that sweet dream of changing everything, of starting all over again. You know, the one where you see yourself on a heavenly beach, with a mango smoothie in one hand and a project to become a digital nomad in the other. Yes, you are that kind of person who, deep down on their couch, dreams of changing their life like a coat that is too old, too worn. But when it comes time to take the first step, you barely have the energy to get off that couch. Because deep down, it's easier to dream than to move, right?

Just yesterday, you were super motivated: "Tomorrow, I'll become a better version of myself!" You even had a to-do list planned: sports, healthy eating, personal development, and why not learn Japanese in 30 days? And then tomorrow came... and you told yourself that the day after tomorrow wasn't bad either. After all, why rush things?

You have golden plans, inspiring lists, motivational quotes and even a great notebook to write down your goals. It’s brand new. Almost too beautiful to be used. Maybe you should wait for the right moment to inaugurate it… Let’s say Monday. Or the 1st of the month. Better yet: January! That has more impact, right?

The thing is, you have a natural talent for pushing back the inevitable. Not for lack of motivation, no, no. It's just that, to do things well, you need good preparation. A favorable environment. A favorable astral conjunction. And above all, an intense phase of research. Besides, you are an expert in articles like "How to change your life in 5 simple steps." You have even downloaded applications to better manage your time. In short, you are ready... to be ready.

It's crazy how easy it seems to change your life, everything is written on the Internet, in books, on inspiring podcasts. But right now, you're still comfortably installed on your couch that knows you better than any shrink

So why isn't it moving forward? Because deep down, the idea of changing everything sounds great on paper. But in reality, it's dizzying. It involves getting out of your comfort zone, facing the unknown, letting go of your little comforting habits. And that's not so easy. Especially when you realize that you have an innate talent for always finding a good reason to wait a little longer.

“Today is not the right day, I have too much work.” “It’s raining this week, it’s not ideal for starting a new routine.” “Well, I’ll wait until the end of the month, it’ll be more practical.” And then, suddenly, we find ourselves six months later, still back to square one, but with a schedule full of concrete excuses.

But is it so bad? After all, aren't we doing pretty well as it is? Why do we want to turn everything upside down? And hey, as long as we're talking about it, we're thinking about it, and as long as we're thinking about it, we're moving forward... a little. The important thing is to have the will... even if it's always waiting to be activated.

So, if you recognize yourself in all this, know that you are not alone. There are many of us in this club of "I'll start tomorrow" experts. And honestly? It's pretty comfortable here. But one day, for sure, we will start! Maybe not today. Or tomorrow. But one day. Well... we'll see.
