The one who decided to finally take her place

There's this strange moment in life when you wake up one morning and realize you've spent years making yourself small. Not physically, mind you. But internally. You said "yes" when you meant "no." You laughed at jokes that didn't make you laugh. You nodded when everything inside you screamed in disagreement.

And the worst part? You didn't even realize it. It became a kind of reflex, like breathing or checking your phone every five minutes.

Maybe it started in that meeting where you had a brilliant idea, but you waited for someone else to suggest it before daring to say, "Yes, exactly, that's what I was thinking too." Or simply in that relationship where you adapted so much to the other person that you ended up forgetting your own boundaries.

But then, one day, something breaks. Not in a spectacular way. Not like in the movies where the heroine throws everything away and goes to live in a cabin by a lake. No, it's much more subtle than that.

It's just that you're fed up. Fed up with being silent. Fed up with justifying yourself or asking permission to fully exist.

So you start with small things. You say " No " to this invitation that exhausts you in advance. You express your disagreement in this conversation where you usually just listen. You choose the restaurant for once, and so what if everyone isn't thrilled.

And you know what? The world isn't falling apart. People aren't hating you. Some are even surprised, in a good way. As if they're finally discovering who you really are.

Taking your place isn't about becoming selfish or aggressive. It's not about crushing others to shine. It's simply about stopping believing that your voice matters less than anyone else's. It's about understanding that your emotional well-being is just as important as that of those around you.

It's accepting that you have the right to occupy space. In a conversation. In a room. Especially in your own life.

So if today you see yourself in this girl who makes herself small, know that your place is waiting for you. It's always been there. You just have to decide to take it. Not tomorrow. Not when you're ready. Now.

Because you are already enough.
