The one who can't stand dating apps anymore

Welcome to “Almost No Filter”, the podcast where I share my "almost" forty-something chronicles, between life reflections, daily struggles and small realizations. Here, we talk about everything that is part of our journey: the ups, the downs, the doubts, and even the moments when we feel like we've got it all wrong. The goal? To be as honest as possible with ourselves and with you, without filter or pretension. Because we're all a bit in the same boat, trying to understand what makes us move forward, or sometimes what makes us go round in circles. So, relax and let yourself be carried away. Let's go!

“Come on, this time it’s the right one!” You're diving back into the wonderful, slightly chaotic world of dating apps. After a well-deserved break (and a moment where you thought maybe becoming a nun wasn't such a bad idea), you're ready to swipe your soulmate (or at least someone who will understand that “Netflix & chill” includes Really Netflix and a pizza).

The first swipes seem promising… until you realize that you are looking at these photos where everyone is pretending to do some serious sporting activity… When in reality, they are often just posing with sunglasses and a colorful smoothie, just to “prove” that they are living their best active life. 😆 Where are the people who own their passion for burrito-style Sundays under the covers, binge-watching and unlimited snacks?

After having chained together conversations as deep as a pocket mirror (“How are you?” “Did you have a good weekend?”, And otherwise " What do you do for a living ? ", you start to wonder if you're wasting your time. A conversation about the weather? Really? Do we live in a world where people have nothing more to say than "Where are you from?" And “What’s your favorite food?” Okay, so we all know that pizza has its place in every conversation, but at some point, we have to go beyond that, right?

And of course, there’s no escaping the inevitable: pet photos. You’re now on a secret matchmaking app for our four-legged friends. At this point, you might as well adopt a cat or dog and call it Tinder.

But you're still here, aren't you? Because there's this little glimmer of hope. Maybe the next one " match " will be the right one. Maybe this time you will come across someone who, like you, enjoys toast for breakfast and knows what it means to "don't judge a book by its cover" (even though sometimes the cover is really the only thing that captures attention). Maybe you'll find someone who won't waste precious minutes of your life discussing the temperature. But in the meantime, you keep swiping, and swiping, and swiping, because there's always a chance that it's " THE " match.

And if not… well, you still have your blanket, a great series, and a whole jar of Nutella. After all, what else?
