Series that marked our childhood – Part 2

No need to give you a summary, you already know them all.

A retrospective of the series that marked our childhood. Which grew with us until the end of our adolescence for some.

  1. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996)

On his mother's advice, Will, a resourceful 17-year-old, leaves Philadelphia and his modest background to move in with his aunt and uncle (the Banks) in Los Angeles, in order to have a better chance of success in life.

  • Friends (1994-2004)

Monica Geller, a young cook of about 25, lives in an apartment located in Manhattan, in Greenwich Village. One day, her childhood friend, Rachel Green, whom she had not seen for years, visits her after leaving her fiancé at the altar on their wedding day.

  • Sex and the City (1998-2004)

From a collection of columns written by journalist Candace Bushnell, Sex and the City paints the portrait of four New York friends, thirty-something and single: Carrie, a journalist who writes a column in which she dissects male-female relationships; Charlotte, a naive and romantic gallery owner; Miranda, a cerebral and cynical lawyer; and Samantha, a press attaché who devours men.

  • Dawson (1998-2003)

Dawson Leery is a 15-year-old teenager who lives in the small town of Capeside. He has only one dream: to become a film director. But how can he pursue this goal, when the problems of his age and his friends, come to disrupt their small existences.

  • 7 at home (1996-2006)

This series features Pastor Eric Camden and his wife Annie who raise their children in the small town of Glen Oak, California. Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon and Rosie are respectively 16, 14, 12, 10 and 5 years old at the beginning of the series. Later, twins, Samuel "Sam" and David, will come. The number 7 then initially designates the number of members in the family and then the number of children of the Camdens.

  • Beverly Hills (1990-2000) / Melrose Place (1995-2000)

Brandon and Brenda Walsh have just moved from their native Minnesota to a luxurious residential neighborhood in Beverly Hills, near Los Angeles. The first days of high school are difficult, where you have to succeed in establishing yourself and attracting the sympathy of the students.

  • Hartley Hearts on Edge (1995-1999)

The series depicts the joys and sorrows of the students of Hartley High in Sydney. And later Hartley Heights (following the closure of Hartley High, which was in a state of advanced disrepair.

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2001)

Buffy befriends two classmates, Xander Harris and Willow Rosenberg. They help her fight evil throughout the series. But first, they must stop The Master, an ancient and particularly menacing vampire, from opening the Hellmouth and taking over Sunnydale.

  • EMERGENCIES (1996-2010)

A precursor to Grey's Anatomy, in the same genre, The series EMERGENCIES depicts the life of the emergency department of the University of Chicago Hospital and by extension that of the people who frequent it.

  1. Ally Mc Beal (1997-2002)

This series features a posh Boston law firm in which characters, each one more delirious than the last, evolve. With at the head a thirty-something lawyer with an unbridled imagination, Ally McBeal. Many important scenes outside of court take place in the firm's mixed toilets. Or the bar that the lawyers frequent every evening to unwind.

  1. Xena Warrior Princess (1995-2001)

The series, set in ancient Greece, follows the adventures of Xena (Lucy Lawless) and Gabrielle (Renée O'Connor). In their quest for justice and redemption for Xena with various adventures sometimes linked to mythology. The character of Xena was inspired by Queen Amina of Zaria.

As a little anecdote, I had an English teacher at university who was a former Australian actor. He had notably played in this series, and taken classes with none other than Hugh Jackman.

After having been a senior reporter, he had just moved to the small town in Brittany where I was studying. ,out of love for his wife, who was originally from the region.

  1. The X-Files: The Edge of Reality (1993-2002)

Two FBI agents are tasked with investigating unsolved cases. Called "X-files", most of the time, the paranormal comes into play. Agent Fox Mulder, despite the skepticism of his teammate Dana Scully, tries to prove his theory of a government/extraterrestrial conspiracy...

  1. Charmed (1998-2006)

Charmed tells the story of three sisters: Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell who discover that they are the most powerful witches in the world. … Once their destiny is fulfilled, Piper, Phoebe and Paige believe they are freed from their duty to protect the magical world

  1. Baywatch (1991-2005)

A Los Angeles County rescue squad led by Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon. Composed of a dozen lifeguards who must face the dangers of Malibu Beach every day, while also dealing with their personal lives.

  1. A hell of a nanny (1993-1999)

Fran Fine, has been dumped by her boyfriend. She also loses her job working in his wedding dress shop. She then becomes a governess for Maxwell Sheffield, "the famous Broadway producer"...
