In a post-pandemic context, the quiet quitting trend has emerged. What is it? This phenomenon has been making waves since mid-July in the United States via the TikTok platform. And it was more specifically the short video by young Hunter Kaimi, 22 years old and with 800,000 followers, that sparked the fire. The influencer essentially explained that he no longer wanted to sacrifice his time and energy to a job with dehumanizing management and paltry pay. Today, the hashtag #QuietQuitting has reportedly accumulated more than 30 million views on the popular network. Called "quiet quitting," or "quiet resignation," it's not about quitting your job but about slowing down. The primary goal is to protect yourself. Enough to make bosses tremble... Its ideology This trend is a response to the "hustle culture" with the main drift of burnout and toxic productivity. It resonates strongly with Generation Z and millennials. Who are fighting to rewrite the rules of the game at work. It's over total dedication to your work, to your boss at the expense of your private life. It's about giving you the right to disconnect It's about setting more limits and no longer performing tasks outside of which you are paid The Gallup polling institute states that 50% of full-time or part-time employees over 18 in the United States are "quiet quitters" Dissatisfaction with your job A certain weariness may have taken hold of you, and you no longer want to work as much. Few people, especially office-based employees, are able to return to a full-time, 5-day-a-week, on-site rhythm after these two difficult years. A realization has emerged between the gap between the perception of the effort made and what you get out of it. Not to mention the wage inequalities that don't motivate you to excel. In addition, there has been a reversal of reassuring rhetoric from managers about the flexibility to be brought to jobs in the post-lockdown period. Today, however, the discourse has indeed changed... You can't change your nature. Some companies are opting more for "It's the end of playtime, back to the office," but meanwhile, employees are remembering. We were told for years that teleworking was impossible. And yet many continued to work from home throughout the pandemic. And more efficiently than even in the office. In short, employees no longer want to be taken for fools, and rightly so. A response to successive anxiety-inducing crises For the past two and a half years, we have collectively experienced: a pandemic, alarming manifestations of climate change, record rates of mental suffering, war on our doorstep, and galloping inflation. Thus, everything you have just experienced has led to a reconsideration of your relationship with work. Well-being is now prioritized, your physical and mental health prioritized. You now want more flexibility, favored hybrid work, and thus regain a true work-life balance. This difficult period has made you realize that work is not the most important thing in your lives. You now want to choose yourself and your projects, yourself and your family life. In short, you take care of yourself. Look at the exodus of city dwellers moving to the countryside to reinvent themselves, or even raising chickens since the first lockdown in France. Or others favoring remote work jobs to be able to travel continuously while continuing to work. Discovering a new realm of possibilities as a digital nomad. So it's not necessarily always about looking elsewhere, but rather about rethinking your approach to work. Work less to live better: this could be the motto of this new normal in the world of work.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2532,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[21],"tags":[523,525,522,521,524,394],"class_list":["post-2524","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-billets-d-humeur","tag-demission-silencieuse","tag-emploi","tag-quiet-quitting","tag-remote","tag-se-preserver","tag-travail"],"yoast_head":"<!--
